The Educational Research Centre, Drumcondra perform statistical analysis of school education on behalf of the Irish Government. They aim to broaden the research efforts in Ireland in order to benefit all levels of the educational system.
The Problem:
The ERC observed that they had no simple method of researching performance standards in English, Irish or Mathematics exams in primary schools throughout the nation. To combat this, the ERC wanted a system which would enable schools to better their understanding and analysis of student performances in these areas.
The Solution:
In 2010, Blue Fin Software Solutions were chosen as the supplier to develop a bespoke software solution to be distributed to every Primary School in Ireland. This solution resulted in a test scoring system which enables schools to enter pupil test results or scores and perform a complex statistical analysis for each individual child. Teachers are now presented with an easy way to identify areas of Mathematics, Reading and Irish which require particular focus.
Software:
The technology used to create this system is a windows desktop application developed in WV.NET with a Microsoft Access database.
